BIOGRAPHY
BIO 1
Keeping The Dream Alive is Robert Joseph’s sophomore EP, a collection of songs that dive deeply into the emotions and struggles of chasing down a dream. Five years after giving up a successful career in science research, Robert has crafted a passionate message by weaving his own personal experiences and philosophies into metaphorical lyrics, catchy melodies and classic rock grooves. This album includes the anthems “Detroit City” and title track “Keeping The Dream Alive”, two songs that that highlight his raw and powerful emotion with a polished and nuanced rock sound.
Robert spent eight years sharpening his talents in Nashville, TN before returning to his home state and settling in Detroit, MI. He has collected a wide range of influences but great rock n’ roll songwriters like Tom Petty and The Beatles make up his foundation. Mix in the classic blues-rock guitar playing of legends like The Allman Brother’s Band and Jimi Hendrix with a dash of modern classics such as Jack White and Dan Auerbach, and you have Robert’s music at its best.
BIO 2
In his sophomore EP - Keeping The Dream Alive - Robert uses a mixture of bluesy rock guitar, catchy melodies and metaphorical lyrics to tell stories of his personal struggles with the pressures making yourself in today’s society. He reminds us that you can still deliver a passionate and authentic message by grounding us in our roots.
Keeping The Dream Alive draws from the real-world struggles of trying to make your dreams become a reality. Building off of the raw energy of his 2017 debut EP, Doozy, the Nashville and Detroit based artist expands his blue-collar edge with a more polished and nuanced sound. The title track of the EP “Keeping The Dream Alive” is soaked with classic vibes, heartfelt lyrics and gritty emotion. It provides an anthem for all of those working hard though these tough times and is destined to grab the ear of anyone who shares the same passion.
In this album Robert isn’t afraid to stare his biggest fears in the eye. The themes of change, passion, love and struggle are painted into every song with the brushes of blood, sweat and tears. The first track off of the album, “Detroit City”, provides us with another anthem, one centered around the important moments and mistakes of our lives. Set into the backdrop of a constantly changing city itself, this song showcases how these important moments shape us and our perspectives on life. In the middle of the EP, the very spacious and sonically driven, “Stardust”, is heavily influenced by his time as a scientist and his struggles to put together a life of love, science, passion and truth. He strips away the vainer of modern society and gets to the brutal honesties to the meaning of life.
This album is also a journey of realization as Robert reflects on his own character and struggle for growth. “Staring at the Sun” is a gritty, traditional feeling blues-rock song that entices and entraps us much like the woman he writes about. To finish the album, “Heaven and Earth” is a songwriter’s song that vehemently paints the picture of a stubborn and prideful artist. All together, Keeping The Dream Alive pulls on every string of Robert’s life affected by his decision to keep his dream alive.
Keeping The Dream Alive is available August 14th. Robert is also currently playing guitar for the Nashville rock and roll band, The Rangos. Check out their new album Modern Love. #keepingthedreamalive
